The former Notts CCC cricketer who used to wield the willow back then like it’s played today T20 style and he carried the same swagger onto the football field. Those of us who were on hand to witness his thunderous long range goals for the Saints in his first spell at the club will doubtless never forget them. Was the Eagles’ first manager when they began life in 1989 – which was also a benefit year for “Birchie” at Trent Bridge. This was his third year as Arna boss having re-joined us from Boots Athletic.

(694) Billy Brooks 16 apps
(73) Lee Broster 364 apps
Arnold Town's all time record holder for appearances. Lee first signed for the Eagles in November 1993 during a period when Neil Waters was sidelined and deputies Seamus McDonagh and Paul Wilson were not always available. So, it could be argued that our all time leading appearance maker was initially signed as Arnold's fourth keeper. To further complicate the story Bros was signed from Dunkirk.....before he'd had the chance to make a single appearance for the Boatmen.
After all that Bros' first "spell" at Gedling Road brought about just the one appearance; his debut on the 8th Jan. 94 when he kept a clean sheet in the 3-0 home win over Tadcaster Albion.
(470) Joe Brothwell 1 + 3 apps

The first was for Nellie on 19th Dec. 94 in an Evans Halshaw 4-1 victory at GR over Ashfield United. The second was for centre forward Peter Fletcher (!) in the 2-1 home win over Hucknall Town on 4th Feb. 95.
